Patrick Bartley, Jr.

101 Pine Grove Rd,
Pine Grove Mills, PA

Pine Grove Hall is proud to present Grammy-nominated saxophonist, composer, and bandleader Patrick Bartley, Jr. Known for his fearless versatility and fiery improvisation, Bartley has appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and was featured in the Emmy-nominated HBO special Wynton Marsalis: A Young Arts Masterclass. A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, he has performed and recorded with Louis Hayes, Jonathan Batiste, Mulgrew Miller, Jeff Coffin, and Wynton Marsalis, while gracing some of the world’s most iconic stages, including Madison Square Garden, The STAPLES Center, and the Black Sea Jazz Festival.

Born in Hollywood, Florida, Bartley was mentored early by Melton Mustafa, Jr. and Sr., leading to his first professional recording session at age 17 alongside Mulgrew Miller, Essiet Essiet, Ray Mantilla, Jason Jackson, and Victor Lewis. As a high school student, he performed live with the Dave Matthews Band on the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards and was named a YoungArts Gold Award recipient in Jazz.

Today, Bartley is celebrated for both his extensive jazz career and his genre-bending projects such as XD 7 and The Arsonists, which fuse jazz traditions with fusion, punk energy, and multicultural influences. His sound bridges deep respect for tradition with a fearless push into the future.

For this intimate evening, he’s joined by Josh Davis (Penn State Director of Jazz Studies) on bass and Larry Marshall on drums. Together, the trio will deliver a night of modern swing, melodic storytelling, and the kind of close-up interplay our listening room was built for.
