Mad McIntosh Cider is a member of the Central PA Tasting Trail. The majority of their apples come from Pennsylvania. They try to focus on the apples that our farmers have in abundance. Those typically are what are called dessert apples. They are apples you can pick off the tree and enjoy the sweet crisp flavor. Traditionally, ciders are made from apples that in the industry are called "spitters." These apples are so tart and tannic that when you take a bite out of them, they are unpalatable and you spit them back out. During prohibition the majority of these trees were ripped out and replanted with dessert apples since their sole purpose was for the creation of hard cider. They have yet to return in the quantity of the early 1900s, so, we adjust from tradition and become part of the solution for our current agricultural pipeline. The cidery is housed at Titan Hollow, a place of enchantment nestled down in Victorian Bellefonte, PA next to the rushing waters of spring-fed Logan's Branch. The Hollow, as we like to call it, is also home to Alloy Kitchen and Titan Events. Magically breathing new life into this dusty old factory has emerged an intimate place for enjoying a glass of libations alongside a selection of delectable bites. It can also be that alluring setting you've been dreaming of for your next celebration. We provide a sense of wonder and magic creatively paired with your taste buds in mind.
