First Investigation of Stream Health (FISH) Protocol Workshop

On Thursday August 5th, from 6pm to 8 pm at the Penn State Pasto Agricultural Museum, the First Investigation of Stream Health (FISH) protocol workshop will be held. The workshop will begin with an indoor discussion of what the FISH protocol is and how this citizen science tool can be utilized by the public. We will explain how to sign up for the tool, use the mobile app to report, and utilize the Penn State Extension FISH community board on the app. The workshop will then continue outdoors, where the group will be transported to a nearby stream to use the citizen science tool first hand. The attendees will have the opportunity to observe water clarity , stream bottom habitats, vegetation, and nearby wildlife from the banks. They will then have the chance to get in the stream to observe stream life. Once this portion is completed, we will return to the museum to wrap up our discussion and answer any questions. Partners to the workshop will also have the ability to discuss the work that their organizations do at their own tables throughout the museum.
